The Anti-Stress Wedding Planning Checklist

Start planning your dream day without all the added stress.

As you dive into wedding planning, there’s one thing I’m sure is on your mind: the photos that will capture every moment of your special day. While the big moments—your first kiss, the ceremony, and your grand entrance—are essential, don’t forget about the smaller, more intimate details that tell the true story of your wedding. These wedding detail shots are timeless treasures that can beautifully showcase your day and the thought and love behind every choice. Here are some must-have wedding detail photos to make your album as special as the day itself.

1. The Rings

Your rings are perhaps the most important symbols of your commitment to each other. Capture their beauty with a close-up shot that highlights their intricate designs and sparkling diamonds. Whether you place them on a delicate piece of fabric or next to your wedding invitations, these photos will remind you of your vows for years to come.

2. Stationery: Invitation Suite, Save the Dates, and RSVP Cards

Your wedding stationery sets the tone for the entire event, so it’s only fitting to capture these details. From the elegant calligraphy on your invitation suite to the fun and whimsical design of your save-the-dates, these items represent the beginning of your wedding journey. Don’t forget to photograph your RSVP cards, menus, and any other unique paper items that tie into your theme!

The photo also includes a pair of pearl earrings, two wedding rings in a white hexagonal box, and a sprig of flowers on a dark surface.

3. Shoes

Every bride (and groom!) knows that choosing the perfect pair of shoes is just as important as the dress or suit. Whether you’re sporting a classic pair of heels or something more unique and playful, your shoes deserve their own moment. A beautiful shot of your shoes, possibly next to your dress or tucked under the table at your reception, will add a personal touch to your detail shots.

4. Jewelry

From heirloom pieces to new treasures, your jewelry is an essential part of your wedding day. Capture those delicate details, whether it’s your sparkling earrings, bracelet, or your wedding band. These shots help showcase your personal style and can become meaningful keepsakes, especially if your jewelry has sentimental value.

5. Florals

The flowers on your wedding day will add beauty and color to every corner of the event, so they deserve to be captured in their full glory. Whether it’s your bridal bouquet, the boutonnières, or the elaborate floral arrangements throughout the venue, your flowers will add depth and elegance to your photo collection.

6. Vow Books

Your vows are some of the most heartfelt words exchanged on your wedding day, so it’s important to capture them beautifully. A photograph of your vow books, whether they’re elegantly leather-bound or a simple DIY creation, adds a personal and sentimental touch to your wedding photos.

7. The Veil

The veil is one of those timeless accessories that will make you feel like a true bride. A photograph of your veil, whether it’s cascading down your back, being adjusted by your maid of honor, or draped across your bouquet, adds a touch of romance and whimsy to your wedding album.

8. Gifts to Each Other or Parents

If you’re exchanging gifts with your partner or gifting something special to your parents, these moments are worth capturing. Whether it’s a piece of jewelry, a handwritten letter, or something more personal, these thoughtful exchanges represent the love you share with your loved ones.

The couple's elegant wedding attire is also visible.

9. Sentimental Items: Memory Charms or Family Heirlooms

Sometimes it’s the sentimental items—like a locket from your grandmother or a handkerchief passed down through generations—that hold the most meaning on your wedding day. Don’t forget to include these precious keepsakes in your detail shots, as they tell the story of your family’s legacy and your personal journey.

10. Anything Else That’s Special to You

Every couple has its unique touch, and your wedding day is no exception. Whether it’s a meaningful piece of art, a photo of loved ones, or a personalized keepsake, make sure your photographer captures what’s important to you. These details can often tell the most personal and meaningful stories of your big day.
